Free Laptop – Free, for a Fee

Most mobile providers in the UK are promoting their services by claiming to give a free laptop with every new mobile broadband contract away. They are slightly exaggerating but the contract they offer may be beneficial for both parties so I’d still recommend checking out these deals to find out how to get a free laptop.

First offer comes from the mobile broadband provider 3. They promote their service with a Compaq presario CQ61. Total price of the laptop and the service is £30 a month. This Compaq Presario comes with a fairly powerful 1.8 ghz intel dual core processor, 250 gigabyte storage, 3 gigabytes of memory, and to top off the cake Compaq has added a 1366 x 768 screen. This notebook is perfectly fine for every day tasks such as office work, playing 720p HD videos and browsing the net.

The data plan gives 5gb a month and I don’t think anyone who isn’t using torrent or other p2p file transfer technologies would need more than that. E-mail traffic, and checking out facebook for 8 hours a day would also fit into it, I wouldn’t recommend listening to netradios and watching youtube regularly as these streaming media applications can tip the counter over quickly with 3.6 Mbit/second maximum bandwidth. This offer is likely to run out soon but mobile provides always thrive to get new customers so I expect another offer to be available soon.

O2 gives an Asus 1005ha ‘away’ for £35 a month. The free laptop deal covers 10 gigabytes of mobile broadband and 500 megabytes of wifi coverage a month. The Asus 1005HA is a typical netbook with 1.6ghz Atom processor, 1 gigabyte ddr2 memory and integrated intel videocard. What makes this mini notebook a real hit is its 8-10 hours of battery time. You will find yourself opening it and ‘Just checking the mails’ 10 times a day if you opt for this contract. Another offer with 3gb bandwidth allowance is available for £25 a month, and Orange has a very similar deal to that.

Vodafone gives a Dell inpsiron mini 10 with its mobile broadband contract, which is a rather solid free laptop offer. Knowing how Dell assembles its laptops I would recommend getting this free laptop computer without a doubt. For a £25 monthly fee there is an offer with similar monthly allowance available paired with Asus1005ha and I’d have a hard time choosing between those. Probably Asus has better battery life and that would make me go for it.

There are numerous free laptop deals just like these, search engines uncover them quickly. As you can see these laptops are far from being completely free, they’re still as close to being free as possible.

Mobile broad bands can be used by all people, but they are more appropriate for people who travel a lot, or those who commute for long, and may need to access the internet while on the move to avoid being bored or falling asleep.
