When buying any repaired product it is important to make sure that you inspect the product thoroughly before making any purchase. First the advantages, refurbished laptops come in a lot cheaper than buying a brand new laptop. You can also get older operating systems that you may be more familiar with.

With the cheaper cost comes a long range of potential disadvantages. For example you may need to make some minor repairs after purchasing a refurbished laptop computer or deal with the fact that a USB or Ethernet port does not work.

Another potential problem with getting a cheap refurbished laptop is that you could get one with a poor quality or faulty screen.  As screens can be the weakest link where laptops are concerned, you need to be sure that if you buy refurbished laptop, the screen will not let you down.

The best way to make sure about the laptop you are interested in is to make out a list of queries that you want answers to with regard to the laptop, such as its age, the age of the battery, what repair works, if any, have been carried out on the computer and anything else that comes to mind.  Normally, the refurbished laptop battery would not last as long as that of a new one. Do not be shy about asking various details, as you are the buyer and it is important that you satisify your self before you purchase. A good tip is to take a friend that is knowledgeable about computers to have a look at the laptop for you, before you make the deal.

If you want good value, then you really should consider a refurbished laptop when you want to get a laptop computer.  Quality refurbished laptop computers are second hand and will not have the same lifespan as a new model, but that is only to be expected.  Make plenty of enquires about your proposed purchase and in that way you can satisfy yourself that you are making a good decision.
