What to know before buying a Touch Screen Phone
Posted in Mobile Devices | 0 Comments »Apple stormed the crowded world of mobile phones with a touch screen phone, namely iPhone. It is no doubt among the best touch screen phone available in the market today. However, there are a lot of mobile phones available in the market, with touch screen technology. It is very easy to get carried away by the looks and hype created by these new touch screen phones. This article therefore provides an overview of the factors that should be considered before buying such a touch screen mobile phone.
Touch Screen Response Time
One of the important criteria for selecting a touch screen phone is the responsiveness of the touch screen. Some phones like iPhone 3G S have a great response time and the user feels at ease using this phone. On the other hand, some touch screen phones from HTC might be a little sluggish.
Comfort level in providing Input
Another important criterion for choosing the touch screen cell phones is to make sure that you are comfortable in giving inputs through finger touch to the relatively small screen icons. Different phones use different orientation and size of the menu and not all will suit your style. Moreover, some phones also have an input stylus which may or may not be helpful to you.
Phone Durability
The touch screen phones have a relatively delicate screen since it needs to be responsive to the finger touch. This also makes it vulnerable to break-up and finger smudge. This problem can be overcome by purchasing the protective gears available in the market. But it does make sense to think about the durability of the phone within your work environment.
Battery Life
The phone battery life should also play a crucial role in the selection of a mobile touch screen phone. Typically, the battery technology has not kept up with the improvements in the processor and memory technology. The touch screen mobile phones are high end smart phones and require relatively more power due to big screens and fast processors. The importance of the battery life should therefore be taken into account before buying a touch screen cell phone.
Operating System
Finally, the look and feel of the phone menu and other software features would depend on the operating system used in the touch screen smart phone. For e.g. iPhone uses proprietary OS developed by Apple for iPhone and iPod touch. On the other hand, HTC Hero uses Android OS developed by Google for similar devices. Some touch screen phones are also based on Windows Mobile OS which is developed by Microsoft. The choice of operating system depends on individual taste and each OS has its own pros and cons.
