Toshiba Laptop Review – Toshiba Satellite A505 S6960
Posted in Laptop Models | 1 Comment »Toshiba A505 S6960 is a good looking notebook with stylish patterns. The laptop has a black texture on the back, giving the laptop an elegant finish.
Design and Features:
This Toshiba laptop uses Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 processor, running at 2.1 GHz. A 4GB DDR2 RAM clocked at 800MHz further enhances the laptop configuration. It consists of a 5400 Rpm 320 GB hard drive. Moreover, an integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card is also provided. The Toshiba satellite laptop measures 15.1 x 10.2 inches wide and 16 inches in diagonal screen size.
The 16-inch wide-screen LCD offers typical 1366 x 768 resolutions. The wide screen can be used to open two applications simultaneously. For e.g. a word document and a webpage can be opened at the same time, making it easier to work on interactive applications. The screen does provide good color, brightness and contrast settings.
The laptop has a large keyboard with plenty of space between keys for pleasurable typing. The media buttons are comfortably located above the keyboard, improving the user experience.
The audio/video output ports are available as expected from a laptop in this category. The HDMI out is however a welcome addition to the standard ports. Three USB 2.0 ports, USB 2.0 combo and multi format card reader are also available. The only thing that seems to be missing from this laptop is the built-in Bluetooth facility.
This laptop comes with a configuration of 4GB RAM, however the memory can be further expanded to 8GB. The six-cell battery typically runs for about 5 hours for normal surfing, chatting, emailing etc. The laptop and battery are joined in a way so that the rear end of the laptop is raised a little from your lap or table top. This helps in better air flow which in turn cools the laptop much faster.
The Good:
Long battery life and good speakers are its major advantages. The speakers work perfectly well with an external computer subwoofer, producing excellent surround sound effect. Another important highlight of this notebook is its solid performance for the given money and HDMI out.
The Bad:
Absence of Bluetooth and slick keyboard are its prior drawbacks. Its lustrous design is fingerprint magnet. It weighs around 7.2 pounds and is by no means a lightweight laptop.
This A505 Toshiba laptop can be directly compared to Toshiba Satellite P505D S8930, which has an 18-inch screen. Toshiba has done an excellent job in improving the performance and battery life of A505 as compared to the latter.
