Dell which is known for using Intel processors in most of its laptop models has recently unveiled its latest laptop model that uses an AMD processor. The Dell Inspiron M102z which is currently released in the Australian market is an 11.6 inch laptop that uses the latest AMD Fusion E-350 chip.

This dell with AMD model costs around $700 in the Australian market although it comes with several variants that come with various prices. It is light, portable and can render graphics that would normally need a dedicated graphics card. Suffice to say this model is targeted for those who want a cheap laptop that is portable and more powerful than a netbook.

The main feature of the Dell Inspiron M102z is its use of the AM E-350 1.6 GHz processor. This is the latest processor from
AMD that has an embedded Radeon HD 6310 GPU that offers a much more superior performance than Intel’s current dual core Atom processors. Because of this it can easily handle any productivity application as well as render HD videos on its screen.

Its 11.6 inch screen is a good alternative to the 10.1 inch mini laptop models that netbooks usually come with. The screen offers a good resolution of 1366×768 pixels which allows you to install almost any program to it that requires a higher resolution.

While other laptop manufacturers have also released their models running on the AMD E-350 chip, Dell’s model comes with several great features that make it attractive. Aside from being able to smoothly play a 720p video it also provides you with an excellent audio experience due to its use of SRS Sound technology. Its two speakers with a combined output of 3 watts can be clearly heard and if you want a louder volume you can easily connect your own external speakers. Storage capacity is in the form of a 320 GB hard drive that spins at 7200 rpm. You will be able to connect wirelessly through Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n or through Bluetooth 3.0.

Dell has not made any announcement yet as to when this model will be available in the US or any other area in the world. Overall this laptop provides value for the money spent.
